The benefits of CBD for your mind + body

Hello and welcome to our blog, Baked & Bossy! My sister, Maddy, and I wanted to create an extension of our brand and a place where we could discuss all things CBD, wellness, and food. I will be contributing blog articles about trending topics, along with fun lifestyle content and recommendations to add into your daily life.

It seems only fitting for our first article to highlight CBD, because what would C.B. Dough be without the CBD? So, the natural first question is: What is CBD? This is a question people are commonly asking as it has grown to be a hot topic over the last few years. Many people associate it with THC/marijuana since it is derived from the same cannabis or hemp plant. However, THC has a psychoactive component that CBD does not possess. Therefore, CBD doesn't get you “high”. According to First Crop, a respected hemp cultivation company, “CBD connects to your body’s cannabinoid receptors, and people report that CBD helps with complex problems like arthritis, Crohn’s disease, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and cancer treatment. Others use it to treat more mild everyday issues like skin health, sleep, anxiety, general pain, and brain health.” The list of CBD benefits is extensive and can vary based on how the product is used, and whether it’s an ingestible/food product versus a lotion or topical treatment. Below are some of the top reasons I believe CBD is beneficial and how it has helped me over the last few years:

  • Improved sleep

  • Relieving anxiety

  • Soothing muscle/body aches or pain

  • Reducing stress/aiding in relaxation

  • Helping relieve inflammation

If you are new to CBD, you can always start small and work your way up to see how you feel. Standard dosage for one CBD edible (i.e. gummy, cookie, capsule, etc.) typically ranges from 10-25 mg. However, if you exceed that amount, you don't have to worry about taking too much and feeling too “high” or paranoid. That’s the beauty of CBD. If you take “too much” you'll most likely just fall into a deep sleep, which sounds like a blessing to me! I often struggle with anxiety, especially before bed, which can cause my mind to run instead of rest. CBD has been a game changer for me. If I have two C.B. Dough desserts (30-60 mg of CBD total) an hour or two before bed, I have a much easier time relaxing and falling asleep. For me, I can kill two birds with one stone. I get a sweet fix after dinner while also curing my insomnia. P.S. On a night when I’m realllly stressed, I’ll have three :) But the key is to find what works for you, and we look forward to helping!
